2020年3月21日，华人Tracy Lee在她的Facebook讲述了她在Oakmont Market Cupertino店购物时遭受到店员的种族歧视经历：

I felt like one of the customer was so close to me, practically hugging me from behind, so I politely turned to them and asked them”if you don’t mind, could we please keep social distance?” I thought it would be a benefit to everyone in the current circumstances. The customers were not offended., they back-up a little, but the cashier said, “You are so funny, you came from China and you are the one brought the virus here”. I asked her “excuse me, what did you say?” She said “nothing”, so I asked again, but she just yelled at me to insert my credit card into the machine more than 3 times. I asked her where the manager of the store was, and she said he wasn’t there. I paid and got ready to leave. The store is very tiny (it’s only about less than 10 feet from the cashier’s register to the exit door). I was almost at the exit door, and the cashier yelled again, “She is a Chinese and dares to ask people to stay away from her, she bring the virus here.” I turned my head to her and asked “what did you just say?”, and this time she repeated it again and again right to my face yelling about how I “brought the virus here”. Then she started to shout “get out of the store” at me, along with two other store workers who had been standing by the exit door. Some of the other customers in the store also joined in and began shouting at me to get out of the store. There was another cashier who was a young man, who shouted for everyone to be calm.
Tracy结账时感觉后面的顾客距离自己太近，礼貌地请对方靠后一点，对方后退了并且并没有感到被冒犯，但收银员发飙了：“你太可笑了，是你来自中国，是你把病毒带到这里来的！”
Tracy结完账即将出门时，该店员继续嚎叫：“她是中国人（华裔），居然敢要求别人跟她保持距离，她把病毒带到了这里！”
Tracy非常恼怒，转身回去质问她，她居然反复咆哮说Tracy是如何把病毒病毒带到这里的，并让Tracy滚去他们的店。此时另外两个店员加入此女店员，并站在商店出口处。还有一些店里的顾客也加入并冲Tracy喊，让她滚去商店。
最后有一名年轻的收银员大喊让大家冷静。
是否与Trump叫Chinese Virus有关？
众所周知，Trump总统3月16日在其Twitter上第一次将新冠病毒称为Chinese Virus（中国病毒或华人病毒）。此举非常恶劣，不仅引起了众多海外华人的不满，也令许多反种族歧视人士的愤概，对Trump进行了反驳和鞭笞。
当然，也有人认为Trump才是病毒，要在今年11月3日的总统选举时干掉他：
当然，有人已经在白宫的网站上发起了请愿，要求Trump因自己的种族主义行为向全体中国人（华人）道歉。白宫网站：签名。
还有人四年在Change.org上发起了请愿，要送总统上太空并不得返回，现在已有十几万人签名：详情。
我们不认为Oakmont Cupertino的个案与总统对病毒的命名有直接关联，但是华人在美国受到的歧视现象，我们不得不注意，尤其时在新冠病毒流行的当下，我们必须提高警惕！
我们该怎么办？
Tracy在遇到歧视时没有退让，而且马上将自己的遭遇公之于众。这是非常明智的举动！
我们希望任何华人在遭遇到种族歧视时，都不要退让，将自己的事情公之于众，甚至当场报警。
据理力争，但请记住为自己的利益辩护，而不是什么国家，与你无关！
我们必须相信，在美国，种族歧视是没有市场的，不被认可的！
就Oakmont Cupertino事件，店家现在已经在他们的Facebook页面上进行了道歉，这是积极的态度，但是还不够，我们必须要求将其他两名店员也进行处理，而且要我们看到他们的道歉是真诚的。

据说是律师建议的应对方法
我们群友转发的这个信息，据说是律师的建议：
如果碰到这种事，我的一点个人建议：冷静的问这样说话的人，do you really believe in what you just said to me? 如果他说yes，那你拿出来手机来开始拍视频，并且告诉他：if you really believe in what you just said, you must not be afraid of being saying the same thing to my phone and getting recorded.
如果对方真的蠢到再说一遍，录下视频，上传到fb/ig/twitter，甚至打电话给本地电视台，绝对会形成舆论压力，这个人轻则丢掉工作，重则影响整个店的生意甚至会被以hate crime的名义起诉。
如果对方不敢录视频，那就直接告诉他，you are both an idiot AND a coward，然后走人，注意说这个话的时候记得打开手机视频全场录像，因为这么一说对方可能被激怒露出原型。
总之，视频是有极大杀伤力和说服力的证据。我用这招教训过好几次这样的人，效果很好。
